Welcome to the website of UK artist David Whitlam. In these pages you will find examples of his oil paintings, pencil drawings, digital art and illustration work.
The distinctive style of David's creations has evolved from a practice known as automatic drawing; a technique adopted by the Surrealists as a means of accessing the subconscious. These spontaneous, often barely conscious, sketches are gradually developed and interpreted to become finished images.
In 2005 David joined the Vernon Mill Artists, one of the largest studio-based art groups in the UK, housed in an old cotton Mill in Stockport, where he now works.
